CONSTITUTIONAL SPEAKER COMING TO BAR-W IN JANUARY
By: Fran Carlson
As you open up your new 2010 calendar, please be sure to mark January 18th at 6:30 p.m. as our first meeting of the new year. (Note: The third Monday of each month is our new meeting day starting in January 2010!) It promises to be a very special evening as we celebrate Bar-W's 7th Birthday and hear from a remarkable speaker - Ted Cruz, who will be addressing us on Constitutional Law.
Ted served as the Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 to 2008. He was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the Nation and the longest serving Solicitor General in Texas. Former Attorney General Edwin Meese describes Ted as "...a strong, principled conservative in the tradition of Ronald Reagan." Ted has authored over 70 U. S. Supreme Court briefs and presented 34 oral arguments, including eight in the U. S. Supreme Court. - the most of any lawyer in Texas! As Solicitor General, Ted has won many major victories for the State, including an
unprecedented series of landmark national rulings.
This will also be the time when we install our new officers for 2010. Our club officers need your support as they commit themselves to service for the year ahead and seek to provide programs and activities that will benefit the members, our Party and the community as well. Plan now to join us for this special evening and bring your family and friends.
