Come Celebrate Learning With Bar-W!

The May Bulverde Area Republican Women (Bar-W) program will be a very special event celebrating learning. Join us for the annual student dictionary signing, the 2008 Bar-W scholarship presentations, an opportunity to meet our special guests and ice cream social. The program will feature our very special guests who are a teacher and 4th grade students from Specht Elementary School. Each will tell our members in their own special way what the Dictionary Project has meant to them through the dictionaries donated under Bar-W sponsorship. So mark your calendar now and plan on joining us at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 21st at the GVTC Auditorium.

The Dictionary Project is part of the Bar-W Literacy Program. The goal is to assist students in completing the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing students with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. In 2007 Bar-W donated over 500 dictionaries to area 3rd grade students.

This year, Bar-W’s scholarship fund will provide two $750 scholarships to two graduating seniors of Smithson Valley High School. In addition, the club was exceptionally fortunate to receive $500 from an anonymous donor and thus a third $500 scholarship will be awarded to a Smithson Valley High School senior.

Please join us to Celebrate Learning and hear about what a difference Bar-W’s efforts have made to recognize our students and future leaders through the Dictionary Project and Scholarship fund. Bar-W strives to inform and educate on political issues, works heavily within our community with scholarships, dictionaries to 3rd graders and other worthy projects and offers great relationships with our members and local officials.
